new years goals

HA! You thought you were done reading posts about what people want to achieve this year. But nope- I’m a total rebel and decided to wait a week into January to do mine. Better late than never right?

Lets start off with some eye candy, shall we? Found this on Pinterest yesterday and just about died from drooling.

Oh wait! Even better:

*Sigh* You know guys, it’s never too late for y’all to give me a christmas present. ;)  Okay. Yeah..I’m pretty sure that just made my day.

Anyways, I have new years “goals”. I hate the term “resolutions.” Resolutions, in my opinion, makes me think that I’m not happy with myself so I’m trying to change something. I think resolutions just set us up for failure because your all excited to start the new year and change 10 things about yourself at once, but by February you throw in the towel because it’s just too much. I prefer the term “goals.” This is what I would like to do, but if I don’t, hey- thats okay. It’s not the end of the world (<– oh the irony. I also don’t think the world is going to end this year. Marty McFly traveled to 2015 so I think we’ll be okay ;) )

New Years GOALS:

  • See The Hunger Games (<- I linked the trailer if you’d like to watch it). March 23rd baby!!! I WILL be watching this. It comes out on a Friday, I don’t have classes that day so I’m pretty sure my mom and I will be in the theatre (for an early show) that day to see it!! If not, it’s just going to be me because I WANT to see this so bad!

  • Make something amazing

Being a design student, which I think this is completely normal, but I always want to create something beautiful. But, who doesn’t want to make something beautiful!? (I’ve slacked over winter break though. I got into a reading mode and all I have done is read every.single.day.) I go on Tumblr, We Heart It, and Pinterest a lot and see all of this amazing artwork people have created. I want to create things like that too.

I realize that a lot of this is drawing, but Photoshop was used in this too! My point is that I want to really start making some amazing work. All I can do is try my hardest and keep looking at all these sights for inspiration. Sometimes I’ll just sit at the computer and have this overwhelming desire (so much it kinda hurts :P ) to make something but I can’t figure out what I want to make exactly or where to begin.

  • Be more social

The other day I mentioned that a friend wanted to go to the movies, and I didn’t know if I wanted to go or not because I just like staying at home! What I’ve been trying to say is what Emma said perfectly (thank you Emma!)

“I often feel opposed to going out and being social when I have no responsibilities because it feels like another form of exerting myself, when I should really be savoring my R&R time. But then I feel like a slug and am jealous of people who are going out”

Hence, I didn’t go out that day. Then the same friend asked if I wanted to go over to their house yesterday and watch movies….and guess what I said? I said no.

I was also invited to a dance at this night club the other day, it started at 10 at night, and guess what…I didn’t go to that either. (Well because it started so late, and I saw the list of people who were invited. Everyone who was invited all went to the HS I went to and as you know I could not stand HS and I have every intention of never seeing most of those people again so that’s the major reason why I didn’t go.)

It’s really hard because part of me wants to stay home and just relax, but then the other portion of my brain is saying “Brittany, you’re 18. You’re supposed to be hanging out with friends, having fun, taking pictures, making memories!” This is why I’m making it a goal to be more social. I usually say no to people who want to hang out if they say “oh meet me here at 6″ (or later) because I’m thinking “ooof- 6? Thats kind of late…I’m always in bed by 10 the latest….maybe I shouldn’t hang out.” I need to stop being such a grandma and just do it. Right? Now is the time to have a lot of fun, meet new people, and make new friends (because I have very few friends…lol).

  • Take a picture everyday

I’m trying to do this 30 day photo challenge I found over at Fat Mum Slim  (and let me tell ya, I’m kind of slacking. I need to catch up!).

But I love photography and this is a chance for me to just take a picture everyday. I want to do this for the whole year, not just January. Oooooooh- and then maybe at the end of every month I’ll have a “photo round-up” and showcase all the pictures I took in that month? Yup, that’s the plan guys.

  • Try new foods

I wrote about it in my final post about giving up calories, so click here to read more on that. Life is too short to be afraid of food. I want to branch out and try new foods. I’m not talking junk foods, but other foods that I normally don’t eat.

  • Try new clothes

I always tend to want to buy clothes that are cute, but baggy in the stomach area because yes it’s a habit from when I was bigger and I wanted to hide my stomach. But now I love my body and I shouldn’t be afraid of things that fit my body to show off all my hard work!

Like these outfits- I love them and want them :P

  • Keep working out, build more muscle, and become toned

Need I say more?

These are a few of my new years goals! I’m sure I’ll think of more as I chug a long but for right now, I think these are good.

Questions for you:

-What are some of your new years goals?

Have a great day!

  1. Awww, thanks for quoting me! Hahaha. I totally did that last night, I was invited to dinner last minute, but I had been feeling fatigued all day at work and all I wanted to do was stay home and read The Hunger Games and eat oatmeal!

I love that woman’s blog, with the outfits you posted. She’s got a great eye for style!

    1. I think staying home and reading The Hunger Games takes priority over going to dinner. ;)

  2. OMG I can’t wait for the hunger games either!!!!!! The dude who plays peeta is so fine ;)

  3. I can’t wait until the Hunger Games as well! I read all the books in 2 days! March will be here so soon! You are going to rock all your goals! 2012 is going to be amazing.

  4. Your goals are great! Cameron Diaz was working out on the track at my school one time with A Rod and oh my goodness she was ripped! Everyone was like stalking her. I was talking to a trainer I used to work out with once and he said that she could flip those giant tires like it was nothing…. so crazy!

    1. You saw her workin out at your track?!?! I’m so jealous! I bet she could flip tires like nothing because she’s so ripped!

  5. I love the photo a day idea. It might help me with my AP Art class. Great goals! And yeah, goals are better than resolutions.

  6. Theses are all such great goals! Im loving the “be more social” one!bthe photo challenge sounds like it will be a lot of fun!

  10. woooo these are good goals! Props to you for making the “be more social” goal…I thought about that, but decided making the goal would mean I’d have to do it and I don’t want to hahaa. I think I need some time off after college! :-P In any case, I can’t wait to hear about all the new foods you try and bout how ripped you get! :-D

  11. Yummy gentlemen…carry-on as usual :D

I’ve always love Cameron’s arms!! Crazy! She’s just awesome anyway.

  12. I cannot waitttt for the Hunger Games either! I read those books last year and blew threw all three in about 3 and 1/2 days haha
Fantastic eye-candy as usual too :)
These are great goals… there is a nice variation going on, and also all quite achievable! Can’t wait to hear how you progress with them!

  13. I am a total home body. I could stay inside at home all day (well I count my back yard as in my home too!) It’s just a safe and comfortable place to me. Being in LA there are so many crazies and bad drivers out there. Sometimes its nice to just know that I am safe in my own home!

  14. I feel you with just wanting to stay in but its a bad habit to get into….you are only 18…get out there and enjoy. You don’t have to go out everytime someone asks you but you should try to make an effort.

Now that I just gave you that lecture I need to take my own advise…however, I am old..so does that give me a pass?

Thanks for sharing the link for the photo a day. I will be participating. My husband got me a camera for Xmas 2010 and I don’t use it enough. He will be happy to see it is getting used :)
